Pak-Taliban Swat Peace Deal Is dead

Taliban spokesman declared and Muslim Khan confirmed today that the Wat peace deal with Pakistan Government is dead. Muslim Khan put the blame for demise squarely on Pak army.

The Pakistan government had signed a peace pact with pro-Taliban groups three months ago.

The Pakistan government had signed a peace pact with pro-Taliban groups three months ago in exchange for the enforcement of the sharia, or Islamic law, in Swat, a part of the North West Frontier Province’s Malakand division.

Khan said the Pakistani Taliban would continue to implement the sharia “as soon as possible”

He hinted that aid money from the US to the government of Asif Ali Zardari, the president, was influencing the leadership.

Zardari’s government is afraid that up to half a million civilians could be displaced by the current fighting

The situation is developing fast as Zardari prepares to meet his counterparts from Afghanistan and the US on Wednesday to discuss how to handle the conflicts in the region. in exchange for the enforcement of the sharia, or Islamic law, in Swat, a part of the North West Frontier Province’s Malakand division.
